The Process ofPainting Golf Courses

In the binary practice of "sketching - creation" on the golf course, Hudson Shaoxia Zhang has constructed a unique mechanism for time-space dialogue. On-site sketching replaces mechanical recording with perceptual screening. The lines drawn with a pen not only freeze the curves of the fairway in the morning mist but also deliberately enhance the contrast between light and shadow as well as the spatial distortion, forming a visually tension-filled memorandum. After moving to the studio, Hudson Shaoxia Zhang transforms these immediate traces through the layering of oil paints — the scribbled marks evolve into a symphony of light and color, and the geographical coordinates are sublimated into a poetic field. This creative chain not only continues the Impressionists' pursuit of light but also coincides with the cognitive paradigm of "the presence of the body" in phenomenology. In the era of digital replication, Hudson Shaoxia Zhang persists in safeguarding the fleeting aura of handmade creation with the wrinkles of his brushstrokes.
